Activity Introduction

Quick summary: This activity is based on Bluey, Season 2, Escape. Kids explore the value of ‘respect’. They begin by watching the Bluey episode and talking about what they observed in this episode. This episode then serves as a provocation for creating an ‘alone time play station’ to support kids to play independently while parents have a well-earned break!

This is an official Bluey activity that celebrates the joy and curiosity of Bluey and allows kids to build social and emotional intelligence and develop oral language skills. Most of all it has been designed to inspire creativity and imagination in your kids!

Part A: Watch Bluey

Step 1. Begin by watching the Bluey episode Escape. We recommend watching the Bluey episodes together with your kids. In addition to spending time together, you will have more opportunity to engage with the stories in the episode. And most importantly, you’ll love watching it too!

You can watch this episode on ABC iView or through Enhance TV.

Escape synopsis: When Mum and Dad describe a made-up world where they can relax without the girls, Bluey and Bingo decide to burst into their fantasy and chase them down. How will Mum and Dad escape?

Step 2. Once the episode has finished, take a few minutes to talk about what you noticed in Escape.

It is important for kids to discover themes and lessons from the episode for themselves. It is open to their interpretation, and they cannot be wrong in terms of what they felt or gathered from the episode.
