Transportation: Costs And Benefits - Activity Introduction

There are many forms of transportation. Different forms of transport impact on our health and the environment in varying ways. Find out about the costs and benefits of different modes of transport.

Step 1. Think about what is meant by the word transport. What is transport? What do people need transport for? List as many different types of transport as you can. Remember to include the transportation of goods around the world as well as the transportation of people. 

Step 2. Now you are going to think about the costs and benefits of each type of transport. You might already have some knowledge about this. You may also chat with a friend or family member or you could conduct some research using the internet. Draw up a table with your choice of transport types down the side and the headings ‘Costs’ and ‘Benefits’ across the top, like this:
