The COVID-19 cluster linked to Anglicare’s Newmarch House in Sydney’s west has proven nearly as deadly as the Ruby Princess, figures show, as another resident death at the nursing home takes Australia’s coronavirus death toll to 100.

The death of Alice Bacon, 93, on Tuesday brings the official number of coronavirus deaths at the facility to 17, making Newmarch House Australia’s second-deadliest cluster after the Ruby Princess.

(That figure excludes two deaths of Newmarch residents who had reportedly recovered from coronavirus before they died, so are not included in the NSW Health death toll.)

At least 20 Ruby Princess passengers have died in Australia after being infected with COVID-19.

The data is among the charts below, which provide a guide to how Australia is faring in the fight against the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
