2. Sparky
There are lots of small actions you can take as a Sparky that add up to huge benefits at the end of one week:
- Switch off the lights when you don’t need them
- Switch off electrical appliances at the wall when you’re not using them
- Instead of switching on the heater in winter, throw on a jumper and some slippers
- Use pot lids when cooking
- Where possible, wash your clothes in cold water
- Dry your clothes outside
- Keep a jug of cold water in the fridge instead of letting the tap run to cold

- Brushing your teeth – use a glass of water instead of letting water run
- Washing your body – shower instead of taking a bath, and keep it to four minutes
- Washing dishes – rinse dishes in a bucket and use that water for the garden
- Packing the dishwasher – don’t rinse dishes beforehand and make sure dishwasher is full
- Doing the laundry – wait until you have a full load and use cold water
- Waiting for warm water – while the water is warming up, use it to water plants
- Shaving – fill the sink – don’t let the water run
