Outdoor learning, mindfulness, and meditation activities designed for Children. Cool Australia’s Nature of Mindfulness lessons are a great way to integrate outdoor learning, mindfulness and meditation into your daily teaching or to explore the messages of Planet Ark’s Schools Tree Day with your students. This series of Australian curriculum-aligned lessons support teachers of early learning, primary and secondary years, and are backed by scientific research.
The primary and secondary lessons were developed by renowned educator and designer of schools mindfulness programs, Janet Etty-Leal. She brings a world of practical experience to the lessons, which contain step-by-step instructions and scripts – all the tools teachers need to feel confident when guiding students in their mindfulness practice.
There are a range of 2, 5, 15, and 60-minute activities for Foundation to Year 10 teachers and a range of sensory activities for Early Learning educators. Each lesson is mapped to a range of outcomes of the Australian Curriculum for Health and Physical Education for Foundation to Year 10. These activities can be used within all primary and secondary subject areas to enable deep focus and engagement within students.
The Early Learning suite of lessons allows you to explore mindfulness using nature as a stimulus. They are designed to help children to tune into each of their senses, their environment, and their inner thoughts and feelings. Children develop skills in focus, attention, resilience, emotional intelligence and regulation of the body and emotions.
