Quick summary: 2040 is an innovative feature documentary that looks to the future, but is vitally important NOW! Director Damon Gameau embarks on a journey to explore what the future would look like by the year 2040 if we simply embraced the best solutions already available to us to improve our planet and shifted them rapidly into the mainstream. Throughout this unit, you will find a range of free-to-access video content from the documentary that has been made exclusively for these lessons. Find out how to screen the film here.

This unit has been designed to introduce your students to climate change and its causes, as well as looking at the science behind a range of real-world solutions that are active today! Each lesson in this unit can be taught as a stand-alone or in the sequence shown below. However you decide to engage with the content, we strongly advise that you complete the teaching and learning by taking social action using the A 2040 Vision For Your Community lesson.

The film will demonstrate to your students that we already have the solutions to climate change; we just need to take action to bring them rapidly into the mainstream. The 2040 documentary and science curriculum package will support your students in turning this knowledge into positive action for a better future.

These lessons have been designed with a media library to support teachers. The film is available on-demand via ClickView or DocPlay and on DVD.
2040 is proudly distributed in Australia and New Zealand by Madman Entertainment. The Schools Version includes an educational license, allowing you to play it in class as a learning tool or even host on-site screenings for your school community.
