Students will learn about ecological concepts such as competition, adaptations, biodiversity, and keystone species. They will research and create projects, such as posters and adoption profiles, to showcase their understanding of these concepts. They will also study real-world examples, like the Black Summer Australian bushfires, and use their knowledge to advocate for change. This unit uses the species discovered through the Bush Blitz program to inspire and engage students.

Bush Blitz is Australia’s largest nature discovery program, with the Bush Blitz TeachLive component delivered by Earthwatch Australia, who kindly provided the images in these lessons. Thank you to the Ian Potter Foundation, John T Reid Charitable Trusts and The Myer Foundation for generously supporting the development of these lessons.
