In this unit, students will investigate the interconnectedness of animals, people and environment through the context of habitats and biodiversity. The lessons are designed to challenge students to think about how their choices and behaviours impact habitats and the needs of living things, specifically making connections between actions and situations where animals become vulnerable to extinction.
You may choose to teach the lessons in the sequence provided or as stand alone lessons. The Social Action lessons have been created as a sequence, Observe, Take Action, Celebrate, to encourage students to identify and take action on an issue or problem in their school community.
This unit has been developed in partnership with Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots program. Roots & Shoots is a global youth-led program of young people taking action to improve our world. By participating in these lessons, you and your students will be joining thousands of young people and teachers working to make positive change for all living things.« Read less
