School Events and Awareness Days
Welcome to the 2025 schools event calendar!
Awareness events are an awesome way to get kids, parents and educators involved in meaningful learning! We have aligned each awareness event or day with a package of free curriculum-aligned resources aimed at getting your whole school involved. Popular events like Reconciliation Week, National Science Week, Book Week and Harmony Day all feature, and you can use these resources to teach lessons that help kids build empathy and make change in their local community.

National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day is held annually on 4 August and is a day dedicated to celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children. Learn more here.
Dental Health Week is the Australian Dental Association's (ADA) major annual oral health campaign. It takes place each year in the first full week of August.
This year's School theme for National Science Week 2025 is: ‘Decoding the Universe – Exploring the unknown with nature’s hidden language’. The Australian Science Teachers Association (ASTA) is thrilled to announce that the National Science Week Schools Theme for 2025 is ‘Decoding the Universe – Exploring the Unknown with Nature’s Hidden Language.’ This theme invites students and teachers across Australia to delve into the mysteries of the Universe by exploring the fundamental languages of nature, including mathematics and the groundbreaking field of quantum science.

Each year since 1945 the CBCA has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. During this time schools and public libraries spend one glorious week celebrating books and Australian children's authors and illustrators. This year’s theme Book an Adventure ties the exploratory aspirations of this year’s artist Jess McGeachin and our invitation to join us in celebrating 80 years of Children’s Book Week.
